Young people are once again able to tread the boards in the heart of Sevenoaks and Edenbridge as their youth theatres will continue from September 2008.
After the closure of The Stag Theatre in July, the future of the popular weekly youth theatre in Sevenoaks was uncertain but will now run every Tuesday evening at Sencio, Sevenoaks. And young people in Edenbridge were also likely to find themselves without any provision after Sara Allen retired after 13 years but waiting in the wings was Tamara Wilder who will take it over on a Thursday evening.
Youth theatre Director and professional actor, Tamara Wilder who has
led youth theatre groups at The Stag Theatre for the past year has set
up Wild Wing Arts to offer multi-media arts and drama in schools,
community groups and through youth theatre in Sevenoaks and in
Edenbridge.
Tamara Wilder said: “We are delighted to be able to welcome old and new
members to our new venue in Sencio, Sevenoaks and we will continue to
offer the same innovative, contemporary approaches to acting and
performance as we have done at The Stag Theatre.”
On taking over from Sara Allen who . “Sara’s are difficult shoes to
fill and I hope we are as popular and successful as she was. I am
delighted to be able to keep a youth theatre local and accessible for
young people living in Edenbridge and look forward to meeting old and
new members alike”.
Wild Wing Arts, run by Tamara Wilder and Sarah-Jane Wingrove offer
innovative, creative and experiential young people focussed sessions.
“Our ethos is to teach but never preach. We work with young people by
listening, encouraging and making suggestions rather than being
prescriptive. Arts participation increases confidence, self esteem and
teamwork as well as offering the chance to act. We believe that getting
up and having a go is as important as the techniques and outcome”.
The Sevenoaks Youth Theatre starts on 16th September at Sencio, Sevenoaks
