Sevenoaks based quartet GoodBooks release a new single Passchendaele though Columbia Records on Monday 16th July. Passchendaele is taken from the band’s eagerly anticipated debut album Control, which is released two weeks later on July 30th. The single will be available on CD single, two x 7 inch vinyl and download. All Bonus songs are exclusive to this release: CD Gatefold Clear 7” Part One 1. Passchendaele 1. Passchendaele 2. No One Else Knows How to Hide Quite Like You 2. Hiding Away 3. You’ll Never Win Coloured 7” Part Two 1. Passchendaele (Dekko Remix) 2. Leni (XFM Session) Passchendaele, a quiet village in Belgium where one of the most intense battles of World War One was fought, relays a strong but peaceful story telling the tale of a father and son who both fought in the Great Wars. The song concludes by questioning the fact that despite so many well-meaning slogans and resolutions, a whole century has passed and we are still engaged in bitter conflict around the world. Control was produced by Dan Grech-Marguerat, and recorded at RAK studios in London. Alternating between optimism and despair, GoodBooks ask the question – who is really in Control? During recording of album track Walk With Me the band invited in various friends to sing along, including Blaine Harrison (Mystery Jets), Daniel from Cajun Dance Party and Fields. The band’s remixing skills have been in great demand of late having remixed tracks for The Maccabees, Hot Club de Paris, The Sunshine Underground, and Mystery Jets, GoodBooks recent singles Leni and The Illness have been remixed by the likes of The Teenagers, Kissy Sell Out, Crystal Castles and Lo Fi Fnk. Having recently toured with the Maccabees and The Rakes, the band are currently on tour with Hot Club De Paris and in June go on the road with The Sounds. They also play the Electric Gardens, Underage and Field Day Festivals during August.
