Get reading with Vine's new book club PDF Print E-mail
Friday, 29 February 2008
Let your love of books grow with Vine’s very own reading group. We’ve teamed up with Sevenoaks Library to feature a book every other month for you to read at leisure and tell us what you think of it.

Our group is free to join, and you won’t have to attend meetings or buy the books because they’ll be available for collection from your local library. We’ll be choosing books with a local connection and we will always be open to your suggestions.

Vine becomes bigger and better PDF Print E-mail
Monday, 04 February 2008
ImageThe February edition of Vine launches accross the Sevenoaks district today and there's some good news. We’ve added eight extra pages to this month’s offering and increased our circulation to 14,000 – a 40% increase since launch. What’s more, you’re now among plenty of friends, joining over 35,000 other readers of Vine every month.

Number crunching aside, please join us in a big hello to Westerham. Beginning a brand new series, we shine the spotlight on an historic town that boasts far more than a statue of Winston Churchill. It’s sometimes easy to forget that this vibrant and bustling haven of antique shops, individual boutiques and wonderful restaurants lies just ten minutes from Sevenoaks. Given this special attention, we thought it would be a little mean to exclude the town from our distribution route. Which is why the lucky people of Westerham will be enjoying 1,000 extra copies of Vine in their area during February.

Eleven miles east, we also welcome Borough Green, where residents in over 4,000 houses will find a sparkling copy of Vine on their doormat for the first time this month.

You’ll find six pages of Valentine’s coverage. We searched high and low for ten great gift ideas exclusive to Sevenoaks. Vikki Rimmer’s travel feature reveals Cardiff’s romantic side. There’s a fabulous day of relaxation and pampering at a top spa up for grabs. Plus our wine editor has hand-picked three stunning alternatives to Champagne.

The theme of love and romance drifts into our wedding special too, with a selection of great local ideas if you’re planning on tying the knot.

Vine sponsors Rotary Club's 10k charity run PDF Print E-mail
Tuesday, 15 January 2008
In line with our ongoing commitment to supporting Sevenoaks’ charities, clubs and societies, Vine is delighted to announce that we are proudly sponsoring the Sevenoaks Rotary Club’s 10k charity run in Knole Park on March 16.

This is the second running of the event which attracted 340 runners from all over the south east in 2007, including the Ladies National Cross Country and Triathlon champions. The main beneficiaries of the 2008 Run will be Age Concern in Sevenoaks, who with limited financial resources, do so much to help local elderly people in need.

Race director John Walker said: “Entries are coming in thick and fast mostly online via Runners World website, and have already passed the 100 mark. This year we hope to see teams of three or more entered from local firms and clubs.

Entries have also been received from a team of Olympic Medal winning Sailors including double Silver Medallist Ian Walker and Jo Grindley who will be demonstrating their abilities on terra firma for a change. We are expecting at least 500 entries”.

Vine joins an impressive list of other key sponsors including Knocker & Foskett, Ibbett Mosely, Davis of Sevenoaks, Sencio and Sevenoaks Computer Shop, who also provide services on the day.

New year, new edition, new ideas PDF Print E-mail
Tuesday, 18 December 2007
ImageThe new year double edition of Vine launches accross the Sevenoaks district this week boasting an increased circulation of 500 to 13,500. It is bursting at the seams once again with all the Sevenoaks-focused features, articles and news you’ve come to expect. But this month we include the surprise bonus of our exclusive, free, 16-page pull out calendar.

We constantly strive to set ourselves apart from other free magazines: through being brighter, more creative and more original. Which is why your calendar not only features 12 stunning local images but all the key 2008 events in Sevenoaks are marked in too. It’s your one-stop guide to the next year in Sevenoaks – plus we’ve left plenty of space for your own events.

This is the first in our ambitious package of new developments and additions which we’ll be rolling out over the next 12 issues.

Vine’s circulation is set to rapidly increase; we’ll be delivering to more houses, available to pick up from more outlets and the number of pages will also grow.

We’ll be teaming up with local charities, schools and societies plus our website will evolve to feature even more pages and interactive sections.

These are exciting times. And at the heart of everything is our desire to remain relevant and respected. This month is, of course, no exception.

In light of Sevenoaks District Council recently handing  Kino Holdings a new 25-year contract, John Morrison’s exclusive report on The Stag Theatre lifts the lid on what’s really going on. Is its hey day as the hub for community theatre in Sevenoaks ever likely to return?

As always, we’d love to hear your ideas, comments and feedback on Vine. Don’t forget, it’s your magazine.

Happy new year!
